SURPRISE! Birthday Blog Hop for Stephanie Serrano

Happy Birthday, Stephanie!  I hope you are surprised by our special gift to you on your birthday!  Stephanie is one of our DDH Designers, and we wish her a very happy day today! Hopefully you came to my blog from the DDH blog.  If not, be sure to start there so you won't miss any of the surprise birthday cards for Stephanie.

My birthday card for you is from the DDH set called Buggy Postage, and the birthday saying is from TAC's Sophisticated Sentiments.

For this card I used TAC's Miss Moxie SWIC paper collection and cardstock.  The base card is embossed with a Sizzix Embossing Folder.  I colored with Copic markers and finished the card with a yellow ribbon and three red sticker jewels.

I'd love for you to leave me a comment about my card, and then go see Teresa Jenkin's birthday card for Stephanie.  Be sure to go to stop by Stephanie's blog and leave her some love and birthday wishes.

Have a happy day!  Blessings!

DDH2 Challenge - Sketch - Week 2

Digi Design House continues our DDH2 Challenge - Sketch,  a second week.

Since I posted a sketch last week, today I am doing something different.  One of my favorite Digi Design House stamps is Tiger.  I love realistic animal stamps.  For this card, I chose to use Tiger as a male birthday gate fold card.

The paper choice is Winchester Soar With it Collection from The Angel Company, and the cardstock is Stardream Copper Metalic.  I used Spellbinders Nestabilities Labels 3 for the die cut around the image and colored with Copic markers E13,, E15, E19, Y24, E50.  I used a White Gel Pen to accent the tiger's whiskers. Copper hardward and ribbon were added on the front, and a strip of the Copper Metallic cardstock was corrugated on top and bottom of the card.

The inside saying of the card is from TAC's Love You set, stamped on White Caboodle Cardstock from TAC with Memento Tuxedo Black ink

Be sure to check the DDH blog for more designers' sketch cards.  I hope you will make a sketch card and link it to the blog so you have a chance to win a digi stamp set of your choice.

Pot of Gold Challenge

The March challenge is called Pot of Gold.  This was truly a challenge.  The card had to have certain elements:  stitching, a punched item, ribbon, button/bow/or brad, green color, and several layers.   How to create a pot of gold?  Here is my card.

My pot comes from T3411 Cup of Love.  I used the tea cup and cut off the base and handle to make a pot.  It is colored with Copic markers BG93, BG96, G94, G99, N1, N4.  Then I used gold metalic cardstock and a standard hole punch to make the circles of gold coins.  I popped the pot of gold up on a white circle punched from a 2 1/2 inch circle punch and then a 3" scallopped circle punch.  The paper is Willoughby SWIC, as is the light green ribbon.  My stitches are from T2610 Running Stitches, stamped in Jardin Moss Palette Ink.  The saying, stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink is from T3227 Cowboy Boots..

Now it is your turn.  Link your Pot of Gold card and join the challenge.

Tune in Tuesday - Pop Up Cards with Paula-Kay Bourland

Today I am the Dream Team designer featured on Savvy Projects blog.  Go there to see a picture tutorial with instructions of how to create a pop up card.    Here is my pop up card.

The card front

The inside
I've chosen the stamp set T3290 Girls Day Out for my card. The sayings are from T3334 Joyful Notes and the wallpaper in the background (inside) is from T2672 Salsa Flowers. On the front of the card I stamped the saying on a circle cut with Spellbinders Nestabilites Standard Circle Lg and placed it on another Spellbinders Nestablities Big Scalloped Ovals Lg. The paper collection is Maggie SWIC and also Maggie cardstock. I used stick-on gemstones for accent. Inside the card I used Desert Marigold Bazzill cardstock and T3344 Window Box Wonder. I again used the Spellbinders Nestabilities Big Scalloped Ovals Lg. to create a rug for the room. The images are all colored with Copic markers.
From an angle you can see the cut out portion that pops the card out.

I hope you are brave enough to try a pop-up card and link it to the blog hop so we can all see your card.  It is a fun card to make.

DDH2 Challenge - Sketch

Debra Miller is the Design Team hostess for our second challenge, this time using a sketch.  Each of the Design Team members has made a card with the same sketch. You'll find the sketch at the DDH Blog.  We'd like for you to join us by making a card with the sketch and link it to the DDH blog for a chance to win a free DDH stamp ($3.50) of your choice.

I chose to made an Easter card with the lamb from the DDH set called S.W.A. K.

On this card I used pink cardstock from the Lilly Anna Soar With it Collection from The Angel Company and embossed it with a Cuddlebug embossing folder.  The green cardstock is from Mia's Cottage Collection SWIC from The Angel Company.  I printed the image on white Copic Caboodle cardstock from TAC.  Coloring is done with Copic markers.  The saying is from Joy of Easter from TAC, and I punched it out with a 1 1/2 " oval punch and a 2 1/2 scalloped oval punch.  A paper flower, pink button, and scrappers floss were added for accent.  The tab is corrugated for texture..

Be sure to check out all the DDH Designer blogs to see their sketch challenge cards and leave a comment on their creations.  Then link your card for a chance to win the free DDH stamp set being given away.

Going Green with Christine Pennington

It is March - the "green" month for St. Patrick's, so we at TAC are "going green".  Today is Christine Pennington's featured card and "green" projects, so be sure to visit Savvy Projects Blog to see her designs.

Here's my green card using the T3440 Be Lifted stamp set.

I used the front page of the package of Tutti Fruit Classic SWIC to paper piece the kites (since it had smaller print than the actual full-size sheets).    I stamped the kites with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored the kite tails with PrismaColor pencils.  Then I sponged on Palette Jardin Moss ink around the edges of the card.

Going Green with Marisa Alvarez

Happy St. Patrick's Day and welcome again to "Going Green" week with cards and projects that are either green or recycled.  Marisa Alvarez is featured today on the Savvy Projects blog.  She has some really cute St. Patrick's Day projects.  You can still link on your card and play along with the blog hop.

Here is my green and recycled card, using T3411, Cup of Love.

When I had coffee at Starbucks, it had a green sleeve on the cup.  Of course, being a stamper, I immediately began to think of using it on a project.  Then I thought of "Going Green" week.  Perfect!  So I added it to the card along with a cup of love!

Supplies:  Copic markers, Caboodle Cardstock, green cardstock, Starbucks sleeve, Memento Tuxedo Black ink, dimension tape to pop up flowers.

I'd love for you to link on to the Going Green week with your green card.

Going Green with Heather Scott

We are still "Going Green" all week.  Today is Heather Scott's day to show her green creation.  You can see her card and great tutorial at
Savvy Projects blog.

Here is my card.

My background for this card is made with White Glossy cardstock and alcohol inks that are swooshed on the card.  No two card backgrounds are ever alike, but they make interesting cards.  I used T3074 Sea Stamps because it seemed to go with this background.

Thanks for looking at my blog post.  Now you may want to link your green card and join in the fun.

Buggy Postage

Digi Design House continues our Distressing Challenge this week so be sure to check the blog for more designers' distress cards.  I hope you will make a distress card and link it to the blog so you have a chance to win the digi stamp set called Vintage Garden Labels that Michelle Single used on her card on the blog.  And if you use a DDH image (not required) you will have two chances to win the drawing.

Today I'm not doing a distress card but am showing you a pretty digital stamp that I think you will surely want - it is Buggy Postage from Digi Design House.

The background paper I used on the card are from the Amberley Grace Soar With It Collection from The Angel Company.  Also the cardstock is from the same collection, as is the ribbon.    I used self-adhesive gemstones for accent and popped up the image for dimension.  I inked the edges of the papers with Memento Rick Cocoa ink, and colored the image with Copic markers - BG10, BG15, E31, Y00, R81, R83, R85, V15, V17, B13, B63, B01, B02, YG63, YG67, B00 and a white gel pen

It is difficult to see in the photo, but the wings of the dragonfly glisten from Radiant Pearls (DragonFly Wings).

Thanks for stopping by my blog.  Leave me a comment about my Buggy Postage card, and be sure to leave some love for the other designers with their distress cards.  Happy stamping!

Going Green with Kerry Urbatch

It is March "Going Green" week.  Be sure to see Kerry Urbatch's creation at the Savvy Projects blog.  My card has a touch of green in the Hip Hop Fly with It Collection paper and the button wheels on the car, which is from T3253 Toot My Horn

I used Amelia SWIC cardstock for the base card and some blue cardstock to matt the printed background and the stamped image.  A blue ribbon and Prussian Blue Palette ink, along with green buttons and a flower brad complete the card.

"Happy Birthday Tracy" Blog Hop

Today is Digi Design House Dream Team Designer Tracy Jackson's birthday, and we are surprising her with a blog hop designed just for her.  So Happy Birthday, Tracy!   If you came here to my blog from Teresa Jenkin's blog, then you are right on track in this blog hop.  If not, be sure to start at Michelle Single's blog so you won't miss any of the  birthday cards for Tracy.

For my card, I tried something new to me - combining several digi images together to make a scene.  I've used the Digi Design House set called Bird Bath.   Sizing the images to correct proportions to each other was challenging.

For the background paper, I used some of the Lilly Anna Soar With it Collection from The Angel Company.  The ribbon is also from that collection.  I image is printed on white Caboodle Cardstock and colored with Copic markers - YG11, YG13, YG17, B00, B91, B95, R81, R83, R85, Y35, E31, E35.  I cut the image out with Spellbinders Nestabilities Labels 1.

Thank you for hopping by my blog.  I'd love for you leave me a comment about my birthday card.  Then continue your hop on over to see  Marie Bridgeman's birthday card.  Be sure to leave some love for each designer in their comments section, and very important - be sure to go to Tracy's blog and leave her a birthday wish and tell her that Paula-Kay Bourland (that's me) sent you, since this is Tracy's big surprise for her birthday.

Challenge - Distressing

Michelle Single is hostess for our first Digi Design House blog challenge, which is Distressing.  We hope you'll play along - the prize for this week's challenge is Vintage Garden Labels.

My card features DDH stamp set called Western.  I've used a saying from Cowboy BBQ from The Angel Company.  Here is my distressed card.

I've used TAC's Winchester SWIC paper collection and cardstock, Ivory UltraSmooth cardstockMemento Rich Cocoa ink pad.  The coloring on all the images is done is Copic markers E33, E35, E37, E13, E15, V09, V15, V17, Y35. I colored the buckles with a Gelly Roll Clear Star pen and used Sand Beige Dauber Duo to smudge ink on the sides of the cardstock.  I used an Edge Distresser to rough up the edges of the cardstock.  Other embellishments are a twine for the rope and a brad for the hook to hang the rope.

Be sure to check out the DDH Blog to see the other fabulously distressed creations by the Dream Team and to play along. You do not have to use DDH stamps, but we'd love it if you did, and you'll get an extra entry in the prize drawing if you do.  I'd love to see what you create and distress.

Seeing Shamrocks Blog Hop

TAC's March Blog Hop is "Seeing Shamrocks".

My first card is TC3349 Hedgehog Happiness.  What could be happier than an hedgehog with a wagon full of shamrocks for St. Patrick's Day?  I found a simple fabric elastic necklace for $1 that looked like a perfect array of shamrocks to use on cards.  You know how we stampers will find all kinds of things that make us think of cards.  So I stamped the hedgehog on Copic Caboodle cardstock and colored him with Copic markers E31, E33, E35, E71, E74, E77 and W1, W3 and added the shamrocks.  The cardstock is from the Mia's Cottage SWIC collection and the paper is from the TAC Designer Collection Finger Paints.

Inside the card

On the second card I created a shamrock tree from the tree stamp in T2944 Springtime and the saying is from T3300 Cheers to You.  The shamrock on the tree is the tiny shamrock in the mouse's hand in T3300 Cheers to You.

I colored the shamrocks with a green Bright Metallic Gel pen.  The photo doesn't show how they are slightly raised and glisten, but it added dimension to the card.  The saying is stamped on a piece of the TAC free download paper, Robin.  I used Leapfrog green Bazzill cardstock and Ivory Ultrasmooth cardstock.  The images are stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink

Tune in Tuesdays - Animal cards

Today begins the March promotion of Tune in Tuesdays.  Our first Tuesday is devoted to animal cards.  Rita Kegg is the Dream Team design member hosting this blog hop.  View her creative creations on the Savvy Projects blog and link your card to the blog hop.

Here are my animal cards.  The first is a Valentine card I made for my husband using T3431 Oh My!  It is a fun card with multiple pages and openings to reveal a little more each time of the final card.

This was a fun card to construct and give.  I colored the image with Copic markers and cut the openings with  Coluzzle circle and oval templates and cutters.

The next project is coasters I made for a friend's birthday present.  She collects roosters and I thought this fit her perfectly.   I also made her birthday card from T3383  Rise and Shine.  The coasters (from Lowe's - tumbled marble tiles) are stamped with Jet Black Stazon ink and colored with Fabrico markers.  Then I sprayed them lightly with a matte sealant and glued cork coasters to the back side.
