January 2011 Angel Club Projects

For January our Angel Club will do two technique cards. The first card uses using an "aging" technique with sponging ink colors on to a crumpled image. We will use the TAC Rise and Shine stamp set for this project. The image on my sample is colored with Copic Markers, but it could also be colored with PrismaColor pencils or water color pencils.

The second card is Retiform technique.  I've used the TAC Sunshine stamp set.  This fun technique is achieved by masking off sections of the cardstock and inking with a sponge.
It has the look of a layered card.

Technique Blog Hop - Brayers

This week's blog hop for The Angel Company is focused on the technique of using brayers.  I have two techniques to show.

#1 - Versamark Resist

One of my favorite brayer techniques is Versamagic Resist on glossy cardstock.  For this demo I used Ornamental Snowflakes stamped on glossy white cardstock with Versamark.  Then I inked up my brayer using Kaleidacolor Blue Breeze and ran it back and forth across the stamped cardstock until the finish was smooth and the snowflakes showed through the ink.  It makes a nice background.

Next I made my card using a stamped image from Cuddly Christmas, colored it with Copic markers and added a ribbon for accent.  I like the brayered background.

#2 - Faux Suede Leather

A second brayer technique that I will demo is making faux suede leather with Liquid Applique.  I used brown Liquid Applique on a quarter sheet of white cardstock.

Next I brayered it to cover the cardstock.

Then I heat-set the Liquid Applique which causes it to puff up and dry, lightening in color.

It now has the feel of suede leather to the touch.  I then stamped boots on the cardstock using the Cowboy Boots stamp set.

I decided to add some color to the boots with Copic markers.

To complete my project, I cut out the boots and made a card using them and a piece of the suede cardstock at the bottom of the card.

The finished card with suede boots!

Deck the Halls Blog Hop

The Angel Company Christmas Deck the Halls Blog Hop is today.  I've chosen several cards made at my Angel Hostess Club this month and a project to show you.

With His Glory is colored with Copic markers.

Poinsettia is a beautiful stamp set that I decided to layer with stamped cardstock rather than coloring it for this card.

Pop dots are placed between the layers for dimensional effect.

Gold glass mini beads were placed in the center of the flower.  I used monochromatic red Bazzill cardstock for the flower layers.

This card is stamped with Joyful Ornaments, solid color stamps with stickles glue added for the glistening effect.

I've loved making a number of these ornaments out of punched circles then then scored in a triangle.  However, this time I used a Sizzix die that punched and scored them for me.  Then I added a 4" coaster box that fits the ornament exactly.  What a nice Christmas gift this makes for a special friend.  The paper is TAC's Reese SWIC.

I put another Poinsettia stamped and layered on top the box.

Flavor of Fall Blog Hop

Now it is time for another fun TAC Blog Hop.  This one is Flavor of Fall.  Perfect timing with the change of seasons and the cooler weather.  This card is stamped with Ever So Thankful, a beautiful collage stamp, and Filled With Blessings.  I did this card for a Scor-Pal Mingle during October.

My favorite fall project this year is this garland centerpiece made from Emma SWIC papers, bows, some fall sprigs, tags from Emma and the stamp set called Flourish Trees of Hope. Squares of the cardstock are spritzed with water and crumpled before stringing on a wire.  The whole garland is about 3' long. I won a TAC contest called Fanciful Fall with this creation.  It was returned to me when I took the recent Copic Caboodles classes, so I plan to use it as part of a centerpiece for Thanksgiving.

The following mini booklet was a TAC contest entry that I won, entitled Blessings and Thanks.  I used Starbucks sleeves as the base for each page, with the open top used to insert a tag. The hostess Level C set called A Thousand Thanks was the perfect set for adding sayings inside the booklet and on each tag.  Spellbinders Nestabilities fit the sayings to add a touch of design to the pages.  The paper is from the Woodrow Keepsake album Kit.

Wicked Good Blog Hop

For this blog hop, I'm showing some fun little projects I created.  Here is a variation of Julie Griffith's Hoppy Day Candy envelope in the back of the TAC Inspiration Book & Catalog 2010-2011.  Since Delightfully Spooky was the TAC August Stamp of the Month, I used this set for my Angel club members to make a little fun treat that month. The images are colored with Copic Markers.

Do you have a special dog in your life?  This is Rusty, my teenage dog.  He just had his 13th birthday.  I decided to make him his own special Halloween treat with the stamp set below.

Bone Appetit has lots of cute sayings for Halloween treats.  Don't forget your doggie!

October Stamp Club projects

The Stamp of the Month for October is Jingle Jolly.  This set has some cute images of Santa, a reindeer, a tree, present, snowflake, ornament, and this snowman.  It also has 7 phrases and a background stamp.  It is a great buy at $14.95 with a $30 purchase.  We will make this card at our club meeting.

Twinkle in the Eye, a Level A hostess set makes a nice embossed card with glitter embossing powder, and using TAC's free download black & white paper.

Don't you love this realistic dove for a Christmas card?  It is called
Joy and Peace and will be our third stamp club project for October.

Coloring with Copic Markers

I've had fun coloring some of the TAC images with Copic Markers.  This is a Level A Hostess set called One of a Kind.

Following are some Thanksgiving cards I made and colored with the Copics.  This is one from the stamp set called Thanksgiving Sweeties.

This one is also from Thanksgiving Sweeties.

Autumn Leaves was the September Stamp of the Month.

Sew Thankful

Happiness Is - Level B Hostess set.  This is the front of the card I made, and the next card is the inside.

Pumpkin Kids is not a new image, but one of my favorite Mabelle stamps.  The template for the acorn card is from the fall/winter 2009 Inspiration Avenue.

This cute kitty, Theo's Joy will be in the upcoming fall 2010 magalogue.  He's a happy cat.

September Angel Club projects

Autumn will soon be here, so I've selected a few fall cards for our September Angel club projects.  This is one made with the Stamp of the Month, Autumn Leaves.  It provides a simple opportunity to blend colors using Prisma Color pencils or Copic markers.

Filled with Blessings is a preview set from the new Avenue
to be released soon.  It is a fun image to color.

Our third project is a lattice bookmark using a nifty template that makes it a simple process.  This makes a nice gift card for a birthday or just thinking of you.

I have loved coloring the stamped images in our new Inspiration Book and Catalogue.  This is from the set called It's Your Day.

Wonder and Joy is from the Serendipity magalogue.

I made this card for a friend taking a road trip
to Yellowstone this summer.  It is called The Places You'll Go.
